The issue she brought
before the Parliament is about an orphaned girl that she brought from her
village to give a good education in the City. The girl is 13years old. It
happened on a day that she asked her to take dinner to her husband’s younger
brother (he just finished his NYSC and seeking for a job) that stays in their
boys quarters. When the girl was taking longer than necessary, she gave in to a
disturbing thought that was tugging at her mind. So, she tiptoed to the BQ-to
behold her brother in-law (in his mid-twenties) on top of the small girl.
She did not find it funny
at all and on serious questioning-the girl claimed that the boy forced her into
the act. When she asked why she did not bother reporting the boy to her or her
husband, the girl claimed that the boy threatened to kill her if she tries it.
When they confronted the boy, he claimed that the girl has been coming to him
on her own accord and that was neither the second nor the third time they have
had such encounters. She is so confused right now, her friends have advised her
to bundle the girl back to where she came from.
That the fact that the
girl concealed the boy’s ‘advances’ towards her means that she is mischievous
and no longer as innocent as assumed. She has asked the Parliament to ADVISE
her on the best way to handle this matter.
What
is your advice?
