Save Money and Eat Healthy!

This week I will be dwelling majorly on Health related topics. This is our third week of blogging he he but I believe we are not doing bad at all, as they say “Great things start small” *winks*
I so much believe in that saying that “Health is Wealth”. I am a very natural person and I so much believe in the effectiveness of natural fruits and herbs. But am not defiling the potency of Orthodox Medicine. I will be sharing with you ways you can save money and still eat healthy. OK here we go….tantalaa

1. Homemade (Beverage & food):  Are you aware that coffee lowers cholesterol and also has antioxidants properties? The average plate of food in Nigeria is N250-N300. Many of us spend more than that, or buy several in a day. . If you buy one plate of food 5 days in a week that calculates to 60,000 upwards... a year! Make it at home and bring it to work with you in a traveling mug to save some cash.

2. Do Nuts: We are often at the mercy of a rumbling tummy without any snacks at hand. Sometimes this means we end up purchasing pricey and unhealthy snacks at the convenience store To avoid this, buy nuts (such as cashew nuts) in bulk and portion them into little bags or containers so that you always have a healthy snack on hand.
3. Meatless Mondays :( try Tuesdays!) Vegetarians tend to spend less money on food. They often use meatless Mondays as an excuse to enjoy a meal that is centered on beans, fruits, or whole grains. Vegetarian sources of protein are usually less expensive than the lean animals proteins we usually purchase. Even if you don't want to go meat-free, you can pick out Tuesdays for it,and make it a point of incorporating new and delicious ingredients into your meals! Try playing around with these inexpensive ingredients: oats, vegetables, walnuts, dried beans, sweet potatoes, sardines, pumpkin seeds, and large containers of low fat yogurt.

4. Decide to Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is: Change your behavior, not your budget. You already know you spend more money eating out in restaurants than when you cook at home. Take a look at how often you eat out, and try to cut it down to two times per month. Decide to bring your lunch to work four days per week. Instead buying food out and going out for drinks in a bar after work with friends (which can burn deep holes in your pockets),. Keep a shopping list so you don't buy things impulsively at the market. Small changes in behaviors can help pad your bank account and keep you healthy too.

I hope you found this helpful?
